Remember the 2014 romantic comedy, 2 States, starring Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, which proved to be one of the highest grosser at the box-office in the year 2014? Well the film is all set to be remade in Telugu by noted distributor and producer, Abhishek Nama of Abhishek Pictures, who apparently acquired the rights for a whopping price. “I found the narrative very interesting and felt it could be the ideal subject for a Telugu remake, which is why I approached Dharma productions for the remake rights,” Nama recently revealed, adding that he had signed debut making director, Venkat Kuchem, for the film. Venkat has worked with V.V. Vinayak for nearly 10 years and is eager to give the film his very best. “We thank Abhishek sir for the opportunity and we will not let him down. We promise you all the best entertainment and work from our heart,” Venkat posted his gratitude on his Facebook page. Abhishek Nama is planning to start shooting for the film in December this year, “I am planning to shoot the film in a start to finish schedule and wrap it up in a specified period of time,” Abhishek revealed.

On being asked whether he was looking at more remakes from the banner of Dharma Productions, Abhishek Nama revealed that this was the film he had acquired to start with. “It all depends on which film you find particularly appealing,” he said.

The official cast of the film is still being worked out according to him but reports suggest that the roles of Arjun Bhatt and Alia Bhatt, which were played in the original, will be essayed by Naga Chaitanya and Samantha, who are known to share an amazing chemistry on screen and were seen in films like Manam and Autonagar Surya, both of which clicked in a big way at the box-office. However, Abhishek denied that he had confirmed the cast of the film. “I will be making an official announcement soon,” he said. It may be recalled that 2 States directed by Abhishek Varman, was based on the 2009 novel of the same name written by Chetan Bhagat.  The film revolved around the very engaging story of a young couple, who are determined to make their relationship work over all cultural and geographical differences. It was produced by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala and was released on 18 April 2014.
