Siddhanth Kapoor has described his relationship with younger sibling, Shraddha Kapoor, as one of the most doting relationships ever between a brother and a sister, “She is the apple of my eye in the family, not just me but everyone including my father, mother and my maasi, Padmini Kohlapure. We are all proud of her success and the way she has achieved it with her determination and hard work,” Siddhant recently revealed.
The proud brother said that he and Shraddha shared discussed everything under the sun, including their performances, roles and their common friends, “All of us in the family have a hectic schedule including my mom, dad and even my dog, but we all make time for each other. Shraddha and I are the best of friends and we are open about everything,” Siddharth added. The DJ turned actor who is also trained in filmmaking from the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in US, adds that the two indulge in long discussions on their choice of roles, scripts and their common friends, “I read a good number of scripts that are offered to Shraddha and she too offers her opinion on my roles,” he says, adding that he gives Shraddha the liberty to take her own decisions in life. However he adds that he is protective about Shraddha as an elder brother, “I always take into consideration what she wants but yes, I am very possessive and protective about her for sure. That cannot be denied,” he said.
Siddhanth, who will also be seen playing reel life brother to sister Shraddha in Haseena Parkar, recalled how excited he was when he learnt that Shraddha would be finally coming on board, after Sonakshi opted out, “Apoorva always Shraddha in mind from day one but she did not have dates at that point of time. I was absolutely delighted when Shraddha gave her nod and things were sorted out. Which brother wouldn’t like to work with his talented sister? Bachpan se hum log nautanki karte aa rahe hai. The two of us fooled around a lot in our childhood days, having fun with dad, mom, my aunt and all our cousins. It was a dream come true when we learnt that we were coming together on screen from that phase of our lives. Also this is perhaps for the first time in the history of Indian cinema that a real brother and sister are also playing the reel brother and sister main leads in a film,” he said.
So what was the chemistry like when they shot for the reel life roles of Dawood Ibrahim and Haseena Parkar on screen, “We are well aware of each other’s acting acumen. It was a very casual atmosphere on the sets and it was more like being at home but ofcourse, the relationship portrayed between the brother and sister in the film is very different from the one that I share with Shraddha. They were no doubt the closest to each other but he kept leaving her and going away,” Siddhanth said
The actor, who assisted Priyadarshan behind the scenes in several films like Bhagam Bhaga, Dhol and Bhool Bhulaiya, also revealed his ultimate ambition for him and his sister, “I would like to direct her in a film one day and I am seriously working on it. Shraddha has the ability to justify even the most challenging roles and she can be a director’s favourite. It is my dream to direct her soon,” he quipped.
