Mukesh Chhabra speaks about the intricacies of casting in his Master Class at IFFI
Acclaimed casting director, Mukesh Chhabra, who has been instrumental in tapping some of the most remarkable talent for equally acclaimed films, held a Master Class at the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI) on ‘Characterisation and Casting for Cinema’. Chhabra who has been associated with critically and commercially successful films such as Gangs of Wasseypur, Shahid, Kai Po Che, Highway, Haider and Dangal, also spoke on the requirements of the entertainment industry at the thought-provoking session.
The reckoned casting director, who has worked closely with award-winning filmmakers for landmark movies and heads his own casting company, said that he felt privileged to address the interactive session, “I have been attending IFFI over the years but this was the first time I conducted a session. It was great to reach out to so many people who attended it,” he said.
Elaborating on the importance of casting, he said, “Casting is one of the core aspects of film-making. I’m glad it’s being talked about at film festivals as well.” The 48th Edition of IFFI will conclude on 28th of November, 2017 in the beach state of Goa. IFFI is India’s biggest and Asia’s oldest film festival, making it one of the most prestigious in the world.
