Karan Johar, who makes a return to acting with Boom Boom New York, will be seen playing himself in the reality comedy revolving around the IIFA awards. The film will be a hilarious take on the backstage happenings of the awards gala night. Karan had made his full-fledged debut in acting three years ago in the 2015, Ranbir-Anushka starrer, Bombay Velvet, after which he had sworn never to act again following the disastrous response to the film. Subsequently there were reports that the enterprising filmmaker was all set to return to acting in a pivotal double role in the above laugh riot, which was earlier titled, Crazy Hum. Apparently the makers redefined the characterizations in the film which has now been shot in 3D, also making it the first comedy to be shot in the format.
